Feelin’ Better
Most have heard but in case you have not, last week I suffered from a pulmonary embolism. Long story short; I could not catch my breath, went to hospital (should have went sooner), a three day stay at the hospital, blood thinners, shots, pills, oxygen tanks, and a week off work I am starting to feel better. I am only using oxygen at night and have two more shots left to give myself at this time. I will be on the blood thinners for 6-12 months. Could have been worse, thankfully I went in when I did.
The doctors found a blood clot, DVT in my right knee. Come to find out that I did not move around enought during the marathon upgrade, too much setting in one spot.
Things I have learned in the past week:
- get up and move around every 45-60 minutes
- hospital food is as bad as they say
- you can not pick up the ladies in a hospital gown and electrodes hooked up to your chest
- nurses do not want to give you a sponge bath, I don’t care what the movies show
- if you cannot breath, get it checked out. Now…go…right now!
The doctors did order a EKG and echocardiogram. Everything checked out OK. The blood work came back normal also, but I have a few more questions about that.

Glad you’re feeling better! I’ve been spreading the word at work – get off your butt once an hour and move around!
BTW – I like the new theme.
A little on the minimalistic side, but I like the post title bar with the big date a lot.

Richard, so glad to hear that you are doing better.
What would we have done without our Dico?! Amy, they fixed our dic! YEAH!
You should’ve tried to bribe the nurses with Amy’s cupcakes!

It’s always bad when your Dick is sick. What would we have done w/o you? Well, the answer is Andrea probably would have been watching a lot more bad sci-fi movies with Mike and I’d be an ingnorant bystander during Randy’s NFL rants.
Keep moving!
