Sometimes I am amazed at my ability to find new ways of putting my head up my arse. Let me give you the latest example.

I left the house Friday afternoon for the weekend to hang out with friends in Fayetteville, Arkansas. And I got back to the house late Sunday evening. And for 56-58 hours, almost two and a half days my garage door was OPEN. Yep, I can’t believe it either. I clearly remember when I left the house that I needed to close the garage door. Somewhere between walking out of the garage and getting in the car and driving off I had totally forgot to close the garage door.

Thankfully my attack cats kept any would be burglars from taking the computer, TV, new mower, basically cleaning me out.

Guess sometimes it is better to be lucky and good.

So I woke up early this morning eager to start the day, 6:30 AM early. This is what the O’Briens and the Ferbers do on the weekends. But I did not have to feed a baby. The reason I woke up early was that I actually got sleep last night. It was the first night that I was able to sleep all the way through without coughing and hacking and then finding amazingly stupid movies on cable at 2:00 AM.

So about 8:30 I figured I would mow the yard. Little back ground, about 2 months ago my mower decided it would not start. I tried to figure it out, I had a good suspicion the fuel filter needed to be cleaned. Well, dang if I could find the filter. So I hired two brothers to mow my yard. Let me tell you that it is nice to come home and the yard is mowed. So the only regular exercise I got, I was paying a couple of teenagers to do it for me.

About 2 weeks ago, I figured I should just take the mower in and get it fixed. If they said it was not worth fixing I figured I would just buy a new one. They got it working, the mechanic said the fuel screen was clogged. No wonder I could not find the filter, I should have been looking for a screen. And I think they even gave it a waxing. Nice!

So this morning the mower won’t start again. I mess around with it for a bit and decide that I had resorted to getting a new mower a couple weeks ago and today I would be buying said mower.

I bought it from the shop up the road, helping out the local guys. Let me tell you the works great, it sliced through the tall grass like butter. Only complaint is that the self-propel is a bit faster than I walk. Hey, I got short legs and they move slow.

Did not want to spending a bunch of money this morning, but I really don’t like it when things won’t start.

I was not expecting it to happen today, after 5+ years I learned it was just not worth thinking about. The orthodontist got tried of me coming in the office every month and took off my top braces. Actually, my teeth were in the correct place to start the restorative process of fixing my teeth (implant and veneers). So now I got a retainer and I am talking slurring my words again. Oh well, at least I don’t have braces anymore! Yea!!!

The Tax Poem
Tax his land,
Tax his bed,
Tax the table
At which he’s fed.
Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes
Are the rule.

Tax his work,
Tax his pay,
He works for peanuts
Anyway!
Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.

I have not done a rant about taxes lately, so to spare my friends I decided to post this poem.

The Tax Poem

Tax his land,
Tax his bed,
Tax the table
At which he’s fed.

Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes
Are the rule.

Tax his work,
Tax his pay,
He works for peanuts
Anyway!

Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.

Tax his ties,
Tax his shirt,
Tax his work,
Tax his dirt.

Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he
Tries to think.

Tax his cigars,
Tax his beers,
If he cries
Tax his tears.

Tax his car,
Tax his gas,
Find other ways
To tax his ass.

Tax all he has
Then let him know
That you won’t be done
Till he has no dough.

When he screams and hollers,
Then tax him some more,
Tax him till
He’s good and sore.

Then tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in
Which he’s laid.

Put these words
Upon his tomb,
“Taxes drove me to my doom….”

When he’s gone,
Do not relax,
Its time to apply
The inheritance tax.
